Girdwood and Fun with Grandma and Papa

It was a big long weekend! First I picked up my lovely girly friend Mai Li from the airport at midnight on Friday night. We got up early Saturday to go shopping - here is the view from the sky bridge of the 5th Ave Mall... It was so pretty and the sky was so blue and the moon was so full. It was early enough that the mall wasn't completely packed, yet...

Will's company Christmas was this past weekend. Statewide Door and Glass appreciates their employees so much that they take us to dinner at the Double Musky and then put us up in the Prince Hotel for the night. It is something that we look forward to every year. This was our 4th Christmas party with the company and we had a great time. Last year I was 7 months pregnant and went to bed early. This year, it was a little different. Since I am still nursing, I decided it would be best if we brought our babysitters. We were able to get mom and dad a room at the hotel and they agreed to play with Lilah for the night.
Granted, this picture in NO WAY represents the wonderful deliciousness of this dish - it is crab stuffed Halibut with a cajun yumminess on top. It usually comes with veggies or baked potato or rice - but this year I was able to get it with whipped sweet potatos! WOOHOO!! Dinner was great, and we mosied out of the Double Musky around 7:30 - a good 3 hours after we got there.

We made it back to the hotel in time for me to see Lilah, grandma and papa out to dinner and just in time too! I guess a company provided a private fireworks display - it was amazing! We caught about 20 minutes and saw the coolest fireworks. This what I was able to catch with my phone through the glass at the 4th floor lobby.
We headed to the Sizmark for some drinks and fine entertainment, and were dropped off at the bottom of the hill by the local shuttle. This is the view of the mountain as we were walking up the hill - you might not notice, but the white light next to the orange street light is actually the moon! It was pretty cold that night!

Inside there was great friends, great drinks, and great entertainment. A friend of mine was playing that night at the sizmark and after a few razzberry smirnoff and 7-ups, I got Brenda to dance with me! hahaha
I got Mai Li to join in the festivities, too! We shared a cosmo as well. I sure missed her!

So, as we were partying the night away, so were Papa, Grandma, and Lilah. Papa, so named by Lilah, showed Lilah how to play bowling on the iphone. I love this picture, she looks so into it!
She also got a kick out of the full length mirror and had fun with the baby on the other side... :o) Makes me think that we should do that here at the house.

Mom and dad thanked us for bringing them down to play with Lilah. I am so glad they had a good time, too!
Well, another year, another Statewide Christmas party down. Now it is time to start looking forward to next years party!

The fun times and the nap times

Well, this is what we see now at the house... there isn't much room for her to crawl like crazy at our house, so she is pulling herself up on EVERYTHING. This little scrunched nose thing she does when she is really entertained. It sure entertains us! She will go to wherever the dog is and play with Lonnie's feet and just scream with delight. Lonnie is still fairly weary of Lilah, but Lilah seems to be fearless.
Will started to make a little pen out of the play pen and the ottoman(sp?) which gives her a huge area to play in - she loves it.

Will put her in the clothes basket and pushed her quickly up and down the hall. She had a blast. This is such a cute little picture - doesn't it look like she is making the sign for "I love you"!

Here is one of Will pushing her down the hall. will would stop pushing and she would look up at him and try to move the basket by herself. she was having a grand old time! hahaha, doesn't really look like it though.

Here is Lilah's crib - finally, after 7 months, I broke down and decided that she needed a crib... *sigh* it was harder on me than her to sleep in her own room. We got a great deal on the crib, which comes with a changing table/night stand and clothes bin - plus a pull out drawer for under the crib. This is what I wake up to every morning, she pulls herself up there and will just sing and play until mommy wakes up! haha
Her face is a little funny in this picture - she is in the middle of playing with her lips...speaking of which, I need to get a little video of the cute thing she is doing now... I don't know where she came up with it, but it is so cute!
She is already 9 and a half months. She is just growing up so fast. I have told her to stop, that growing up just leads to bills and mortgages and stuff, but she keeps telling me that she has to grow up some, cause grandpa dave wants to take her to disneyland so bad! oh well, hee hee, I want to go too :o)
I will leave you with a video - Lilah in her jump up seat, falling asleep... I don't think she has done this for a little while, but she loves to jump, I even catch her doing it in her sleep.

My snow bunny

I still am amazed at my beautiful child!

Let's see if this will work!

Here is a cute video of Lilah enjoying her jumper seat! She loves it and it helps us do things around the house now that she is crawling, ya know, like showering... :o)

And here is one of Lilah's first bath sitting up. She LOVES to splash! You might even be able to hear an Alaskan Barking Spider...

That is all for now. Will is in Ketchikan for the week, so we will see if I can catch any of our fun on video!

Pictures!

Okay, so I have had a request to post some video footage of Lilah - well, my internet works crappy at night, so I will just post some pictures right now... :o) I swear, the videos are coming soon!!

Lilah, playing in her playpen... the burp rag looks like a bunny tail!

Big smiles for mommy!
She likes hats and hoods.

I tried to get the ears up on the hat but it just wasn't happenin'...

Lonnie is starting to love her baby

Great-Grandma Sue got her this cute little outfit, and because it has a hood, it is instantly a favorite...

Oh, and she loves her feet, too

we went for a ride on the 4-wheeler with Will, nice, brisk fall day at Nancy Lake

All play makes a little girl sleepy!

She rolls herself up in this blanket... we really need new carpet!

A tooth!

A day before daddy's birthday!

No wonder she has been so fussy lately!

No pictures yet, she still thrusts her tongue out whenever we try to get a look...darn.

However, here are a few pictures from our trip to the fair!

Here, Will and Lilah were just hangin'

We were waiting for my parents... they were waiting in the HOUR line for coffee... I think next year I will take a coffee shop to the fair.
Lilah wasn't too happy that she couldn't have the camera.

Waiting and watching
It was a bright and beautiful day! Lilah had a great time, too!

Apples to Apples, weddings, and stinky fish

We camped in Hope for the first time this weekend. It was Lilah's first time camping. She camps like a pro, we will have to go again before winter!!

This is a photo of Lilah and Jess.
All she could say this weekend was " She is so cute! I LOVE her!"

A friend of ours got married there, and, although we weren't going to offer up our opinions, decided to be there for him and his girls.
It was horrific. The man marrying the two was so nervous! He kept reading the directions "Ask Steve to do take her hand..." It was actually quite funny and endearing. The bride was VERY frustrated. The bride's mom wasn't talking to the bride, the maid of honor didn't approve, I think half the people there didn't approve, and most important, I don't think the kids approved... *sigh* it was a very interesting wedding.
Aside from the dead rotting fish smell, the tiny, nasty flies, the over-full outhouses, and the overall sense that no one really approved of this wedding, it was a nice time. We played the game Apples to Apples with Jess, Emma, Colton, Jim and Mai Li. Jess, Mai Li and I made Lilah laugh until WE couldn't laugh anymore. I ate cheetos, $400 cake, chili and a beef hotdog (which, later, I incredibly regretted). I woke up in the middle of the night sometime to find the moon, just a little too full to see the wide grin of the Cheshire cat. The stars where out, twinkling brightly, making me forget, thankfully, of the gastrointestinal difficulties I was experiencing. The night was beautiful, and just on the chilly side. It made me appreciate the warm solace of the tent trailer - complete with snoring teenagers, husband, and cozy little baby, who was happy sleeping between her mommy and daddy.
Snuggling into the covers I realized just how thankful I was for what I had. I had a loving husband, a beautiful child, and incredible family and friends.
What more could I possibly want?

INDOOR PLUMBING!
Yes, please!!
We enjoyed our showers immensely when we got home.

Sunday is laundry day

and everything-else-I-should-have-accomplished-earlier-in-the-
week-but-was-WAY-too-busy day.

In the midst of nursing, breakfast, nursing, errands, nursing, grocery shopping, nursing, a little bit of work, nursing, dinner at the parents, and more nursing, I didn't find the time to download the pictures that I should have downloaded for the last 3 weeks. So, now that my husband, baby, and dog are asleep, I will turn on a good movie (happens to be Calendar Girls tonight) and download a few pictures.

Here are a few pictures from our time spent with the 5 generations:

The oldest and the youngest, playing

Here are the 5 generations
Patty, Sue
Maggie, Jilly and Lilah

Lilah LOVED to watch Great-Great Grandma Maggie play the piano. A future pianist? We will see!

Here are some from our travels in Washington and Oregon:

Here is happy Lilah on yet another hotel bed. She slept like a dream! We have Great-Grandma Kennedy to thank for that since we brought along the pack and play bed she got Lilah. She slept better than us all!

Here is a blurry picture of the Seymour clan
From Left to Right (in an arc)
Cousin Matt, Zack, Will and sleeping Lilah, mom, Aunt Shirlee, Uncle Danny (standing) and dad. We were all listening to a funny story Ron was telling us :o)

This was the shot from the Wine Bar, the Horseradish. Wine from vineyards in Oregon, delicious cheese and incredible music. Lilah enjoyed it, especially when the vocalist sang to her! I wish I was able to take a picture of that!

Driving, driving and more driving! The best seat in the car was right behind Lilah!

Mom and Grandma Sue playing with Lilah in the hot summer sun. Lilah did better than I thought she would in the heat.

Well, I will post more. Lilah is just now enjoying baths, and sucking on her toes! Too cute!

Farts and other bodily functions...

Will is just happy to be able to blame his "bodily functions" on more than the dog. But, sometimes it really is Lilah.

As a new mom, I find it interesting that I am no longer grossed out by quite a few things... and usually end up being able to identify things that are going on with Lilah by the smell of her, well, her poopies. Also, I don't really care if I have make-up on until I realize that I actually forgot it, and forget about changing shirts and looking in the mirror for more than 3 seconds before I head out the door. I got home tonight after a quick run to do errands (sans Lilah) and realized that, not only did I have spaghetti sauce on my shirt, but I also had it on my FACE! Oh well, at least I didn't run into anyone I know.

Lilah has found her voice in the last week, and now when I go to pick her up because I think she is fussy, she really is just talking to herself. She has learned to roll over and does it all of the time. She knows that she can move her legs, but hasn't gotten the arm-leg connection and that it can get her places. Sheesh! She is just growing so fast! She also decided that she doesn't like to lay in her bed and have room, she likes to lay in her bed so her head and feet are touching the sides, holding her rabbit, her burp rag, AND her blanket. Lilah has also shown me that she is a musician... I know, but she was singing to the Eagles in the car the other day, and every morning since then. Again, she has found her voice.

Will has been busy trying to keep busy, and I have been just plain busy. D'Ette has been a Godsend - and really, I am glad she told me I could bring Lilah to work, because I am not so sure I would actually want to work if I had to take her to day care. Work has been great though, and I really love working from home, running errands, and especially doing home inspections!

The weather has been cold and dreary, but I caught myself today listening to the song "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry and thought... "It isn't snowy, it isn't freezing. There are leaves on the trees, grass in the yard, and cotton in the air." That made me happy :o)

Now, I am off to wash the spaghetti sauce off my face. I wonder how far I will make it before I think to do something else...

Well..

I couldn't help myself. I love to read other people's blogs, and I thought this would be a good way for others to see Lilah grow!

So, here is to my little growing Lilah!
